Rivers State Rerun-Fayose Talks Tough Against Buhari

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has said President Mohammadu Buhari must be held accountable for the violence and loss of lives in Rivers State rerun elections, saying; “Members of Buhari’s party, APC, are emboldened to unleash violence on the people of Rivers State and other States in Nigeria because they know that the president won’t lift a finger provided his party members are the ones perpetrating evil.”

The governor said “those who called the Ekiti State governorship election in which soldiers and other security agents made sure that that there was no violence, no live was lost during and after the election and no ballot was snatched EkitiGate should be asked what the Rivers election in which eight people were killed and several others injured will be called.”

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said President Buhari’s way was to protect his party people, and his Hausa/Fulani tribe, hence their boldness to perpetrate evil.

The governor maintained that President Buhari’s culpability in the killings in Rivers State and the manner Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has destroyed the legacy of free, fair and transparent elections bequeathed on Nigeria by the PDP government former President Goodluck Jonathan was not in doubt.

He said; “Can President Buhari fold his arms if the people being killed are from Daura in Katsina State? Is it that any soul that is not a Fulani is not important to the President?”

The governor, who challenged the Military authority to probe the roles of soldiers in the Rivers State election, added that; “If they could probe soldiers who participated in the Ekiti State governorship election despite their commendation by the international community for providing a safe environment free of major incidents, one wonders what they are going to do in the case of Rivers State in which peoples were allegedly killed by soldiers.“

"What are they going to call Rivers election since they called that of Ekiti State EkitiGate? Are they going to call Rivers election in which several people were shot dead allegedly by security agents, election inconclusive, fake Results Sheets produced by INECRiversBuhariAmaechiGate?”

"While calling for the immediate sack of INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the governor said Nigerians must ask questions as to how INEC produced Results Sheets of over 230 polling units with PDP omitted.

He said if nothing was done to INEC as presently constituted, 2019 will spell doom for the country’s democracy, adding that “If 2019 elections will not be messed up and be made inconclusive, lovers of democracy in the country must not keep silent on the mess our elections have become under Professor Yakubu.”

Treat Me as You Treated Tinubu- Saraki to CCB

Senate President Bukola Saraki maintained yesterday that the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) must discharge and acquit him the way it did to former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) should have invited him to clarify issues on his asset declaration form before charging him to the tribunal for alleged false asset declaration, a ground for which, he said, the CCT struck out a similar case against Tinubu.

According to him, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was accused of false declaration of assets, was set free by the tribunal because of the failure of the CCB to fulfill necessary conditions of inviting him first to make statement on the alleged discrepancies before referring him for trial.

Saraki, through his lawyer, Mr. Kanu Agabi (SAN) told the tribunal chairman, Mr. Danladi Umar, that Saraki should have been invited to clarify issues before charging him before the tribunal.

After hearing on the motion by Saraki challenging the jurisdiction of the tribunal to try him, the CCT yesterday fixed March 24, 2016 to rule on the motion.

During yesterday’s trial, counsel to Saraki, Agabi argued that ten other former governors who had the opportunity of being invited to defend their asset declaration before CCB and where not referred to the tribunal after taking explanations on their declared assets.

He urged the tribunal to dismiss the charges against Saraki for being incompetent, baseless and having been filed without observing the due process of the law, even as he also appealed to the tribunal to quash the charges against his client on the ground that the charges were not competent in law.

Agabi premised his argument on preliminary objection to the charge on the ground that the conditions precedent for arraignment of Saraki by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) were not fulfilled.

Among others, Agabi claimed that Saraki was not invited by the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by law to deny or admit the alleged discrepancies in the asset declaration form submitted to the Bureau.

Agabi told the tribunal that up till now, Saraki as a defendant has not made any statement to the Bureau upon which he can be effectively put to trial.

Agabi contended that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) was wrong in law in initiating the charge against Saraki because the Code of Conduct Bureau Act vested power to accept asset declaration form, investigating assets form and prosecuting the offender on the Bureau and not on any external force like the AGF, ICPC or EFCC.

He said the failure of the CCB to fulfill the conditions precedent of summoning Saraki to first make statement on discrepancies in his declared assets was fatal to the charge before tribunal and cannot operate to the detriment of the defendant.“CCB is a peculiar institution; it has the duty to accept, to examine, to keep custody of assets declaration forms submitted to it and also has power to accept complaints from the public on the discrepancies that may arise from any form submitted to it.“In the instant case, there is no petition or complain before the CCB and that the power of the CCB to refer any offender to the CCT for trial cannot be delegated to the AGF”.

According to him, such measure should also apply to Saraki because he was not first invited by CCB to make statement of denial or confirmation of discrepancies in his assets declaration form.

In opposing the motion, counsel to the Federal Government, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), accused the defendant of engaging in abuse of court process and that what Saraki was asking for had been determined by various courts.

On the issue of Tinubu that was set free by the tribunal on the failure of the CCB to fulfill the conditions precedent, Jacobs opined that the tribunal was in error in arriving at that decision in setting Tinubu free.

RELIGION-Full-blown Sharia Law Imminent, CAN Raises Alarm

DISTURBED by the recent announcement of President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigeria had joined a coalition of Islamic countries combating terrorism, an organ of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), National Christian Elders Forum, has revealed that it has on good authority, plans by the Federal Government to impose Sharia Law on every state of the federation.

The Christian Forum further revealed that there were some Islamist elements already in the country with the sole aim of Islamising the country.

Chairman of the forum, Mr. Solomon Asemota, SAN, supported by Christian leaders like the Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese of Catholic Church, Joseph Bagobiri, among others, the elders told journalists at a press conference that the Islamic elements in the country were already working towards achieving the goal of making Nigeria a Sharia state.

“We are aware that there are Islamists in government preparing to execute the Islamisation agenda.

Any nation in which Islamists believe that they are sufficiently strong to exercise influence rarely experience peaceful cohabitation among the divergent groups within it.“

This is the current situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and the Sudan. Islamism thrives on injustice, inequality and unfairness.

We urge Nigerians to remain circumspect so that the Islamists do not drag the nation down the path of destruction“In the build up to the 2015 elections, majority of Nigerians expressed great hope that there would be change in the nation.

However, ten months after the new government was sworn into office, credible apprehension can be expressed given the policy direction of the new administration.

We hope that the buildup to these policies do not result in full blown Sharia which President Muhammadu Buhari had promised Muslims in Nigeria,” Asemota noted on behalf of other elders.

Speaking further on President Buhari’s recent actions which suggest that the motion was already in place to entrench Sharia law, the elders said: “The inclusion of Nigeria in the Saudi Arabia Military Coalition of “Muslim/Arab” nations would appear that the Foreign Policy thrust of the this administration is to make Nigeria a satellite state of Saudi Arabia.

The strengthening of the nation’s democracy and security for all should remain the greatest priority of government.“This we see to have been negated by the President’s fiat/ unilateral decision to enlist Nigeria in the 34 nations Muslim/ Arab coalition.

Given the emotive and sensitive nature of this unilateral Executive decision, it should have been handled by Mr. President in line with our democratic culture through popular discussion and participation by the citizenry, or at the very least, through the National Assembly.”

Heavy Security Presence Around Wike’s Father’s House

PORT HARCOURT – There is heavy security presence around the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike’s father’s home, Rumuepirikom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, as he (Wike) arrives to exercise his constitutional right.

The frightening security beef up around the area may not be unconnected with the tension that has trailed today’s Federal and State Houses of Assembly rerun elections in the state.

It is suspected that the fully armed security operatives were to avert breakdown of law and order.

Reason Why Ibinabo Must Go to Gail - The Deceased Relative

The sister of the late Dr Giwa killed by star actress Ibinabo Fiberesima who is currently serving a 5 year jaikl term over the incident that happened several years ago has finally revealed how the incident happened.

Biola Giwa-Adeyemi is late Dr Giwa's sister, read her post belowFirst of all, the case was between Lagos state Government Vs Ibinabo Febresima but not Giwa Vs Ibinabo Febresima.

On this faithful day of Feb 26th 2006 along the Lekki Epe Express way, my late brother Dr Giwa was driving with his brother and another family friend in his car coming from a meeting in Ajah, they were held up in a traffic around the evening time, when this tragic accident happened.

Ibinabo was driving towards Lekki while the late Dr Giwa was coming from the other direction facing towards Island, just by shop-rite, when ibinabo's jeep flipped and lost control from her lane jumped over the culvert or pavement that demarcate the road from the on coming vehicle.

The speed that skipped and flipped a jeep over the road demarcation will be considered "Reckless and Endangerment" because the VIO dept checked the jeep brakes, the engine and all the mechanical and electrical of the jeep but the result shows nothing wrong with the jeep and confirm that the accident as due to "OVER SPEEDING" in which the result was on record.

After the accident, Ibinabo left the scene of the accident without checking for any survivors, she took the license plate and registration out of the car and fled from the scene, that was considered "HIT AND RUN".

The people at the scene of the accident recognized her as Ibinabo Febresima, and stated she was drunk."Driving Under Influence" of whatever she had. The State Department of Transportation has to use the VIN number to locate the Owner of the jeep, in which the owner was Daniel Wilson.

That was my very first time of hearing the name of Ibinabo Febresima. The Doctor died at the scene of the accident because the jeep was on top of the Honda accord driven by him and they couldn't save him on time because of the seat belt and the weight of the jeep, the brother and the other family friend in that car had survived.

Did she know the state of mind and the emotional instability of the people involved in that accident up till now, Ibinabo has never been in a Comma.

After all the evidences against her, with the result of the VIO by the State department of Transportation, The DPP office took over and charged her to court and she hired Festus Kiamo in which after reviewing the case he withdrew by saying he cannot represent her because it's a bad case.

Doctor Giwa has a living mother for goodness sake, wife with 3 children's, Ibinabo deprived him from seeing his children graduate from university and getting married, also from being the one to bury his mother at her old age, "Whereas no one ever prayed that on the day of their children's success and happiness they should replaced them with someone else".

Ibinabo was never remorseful, they brought her to meet with me shortly after my brother's death in GRA Ikeja before my return back to the USA, but her only concern then was to drop the charges against her.

I told her that it's not my family Vs her but the State Vs her, that where I come from in USA that we do not interfere with the justice system, that they should do their job and advise her to apologize publicly to the masses and to the family and throw herself to the mercy of the court.

She said and l quote "I CAN'T DO THAT, BECAUSE IS GOING TO DAMAGE MY CAREER" what an ego, she cannot apologize publicly, I feel like kicking her ass.

She's worried about her silly career, What happened to the career of the Doctor, who happened to be a 'MEDICAL DIRECTOR AND THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL REHABILITATION MEDICINE AT GENERAL HOSPITAL LAGOS.

People say there is no justice in Nigeria, but it does once in awhile. The lower court magistrate O.

A Isaac found her guilty with the option of 100,000.00 Naira, which is considered a judicial recklessness, 100k does not even buy an iPad, the life of someone does not worth more that 100k, so that people will take the liberty of committing crimes.

Later Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of the High court find her guilty and overturn the option of fine and gave her 5 yrs in prison, she spent 3 weeks and came out on bail to go to Court of Appeal.

Senator Akpabio Floors Sahara Reporters Over linking Him to the Ownership of Lekki Gardens

Senator Godswill Akpabio has hit out at Sahara Reporters over reports linking him to the ownership of Lekki Gardens, the now sealed real estate firm whose collapsed 5-storey building on March 8 left 31 dead.

The senate minority leader took to Twitter to vent his spleen, slamming Sahara Reporters as journalists for hire who should not be taken seriously by Nigerians.

He further stated that they have been bought over by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), and have lost all credibility.

Sahara Reporters then accused the former governor of derailing the progress of Akwa Ibom State after cruelly embezzling their funds, alleging that he can’t run away from justice forever.

Below  are the tweets from the two-hour ‘war’…

Tonto Dikeh Dumps D'banj's Records

Tonto Dikeh has come out to reveal she has left D'banj's label DB records. She said this in a recently released trailer interview with Emma Emmerson of Golden Icons.

The singer was signed to the label DB records some time back late November 2014. Tonto Dikeh ventured into music in October 2012, with the release of her singles, 'Hi' and 'Itz Ova', which got tongues wagging.

Tonto who has achieved remarkable success in Nollywood over the years, had taken the leap into music production, recording, and publishing, but a majority of her songs such as 'Hi', 'Jeje', and a few more, have received negative and, for the most part, malicious feedback from the Nigerian public.

Wike Sents Family Abroad Ahead of Saturday's Rerun Election- APC

Embattled Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, on Thursday came under fire from the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for sending his family abroad ahead of the March 19 rerun State and National Assembly elections in the State.

“By this action, Wike, who has been stoking violence in the State ahead of the rerun polls, is saying that the life of his family members is more important than those of the other millions of Rivers State people which he has put at risk,” Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt.

He blamed Wike for the current crisis in his camp, which has reportedly seen some of his key allies such as Senator George Sekibo and Wike’s militant loyalists led by Chief Ateke Tom turning against him following his recent unguarded utterances against President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.

Already, Senator Sekibo, citing insincerity in the actions of Governor Wike, has decided to part ways with his benefactor.

The three-time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was quoted as saying: “Wike who is my junior both in age and politically can’t endanger my political career with his unguarded and uncouth utterances against a sitting President with a military background.

Look, I was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Army and for a fellow to call a sitting Chief of Army Staff names, such a fellow is destined for doom and I don’t want to be a part of that.”

Wike had recently been reported to have said: “Let the Chief of Army Staff come on Saturday to dare the will of the PDP and let’s see if he will go back home alive.”

He also was reported to have said: “Buhari as a Fulani President, cannot take any security decision without my consent and if he does, I will personally send him to his ancestors.”

He equally was reported to have said about his predecessor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi: “People of Ikwerre LGA if you see Amaechi in your polling unit, beat him up or kill him.”

Rivers APC condemned the utterances, saying that they have further exposed Wike as unfit to occupy the exalted office of Governor.

The party advised the electorate not to be intimidated by Wike’s threats but to come out en masse on Saturday and vote massively for APC candidates since their security has been guaranteed by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, who is sending over 6,000 crack police team to supervise the rerun elections.

President Buhari Said The Current Economic Degradation is a Blessing to Nigerian

President Muhammadu Buhari says the current economic crisis plaguing the nation is a blessing in disguise.Buhari said this at the opening ceremony of the International Islamic Conference on Peace and Nation Building in Abuja on Thursday.

The President said that through the hardship, Nigerians would be able to come up with ideas that would in turn lead to development.

He said, “The global economic challenges the world is grappling with today might well turn out to be a blessing for us in Nigeria, because it will stimulate the latent economic opportunities that we have left untapped for decades.“Poverty breeds disaffection, which in turn leads to crime and lawlessness including confrontation against the State.

To checkmate this, we must work hard to lift our economy, engage our youth and rebuild infrastructure.“We can only achieve these with the full cooperation of all Nigerians and under a stable polity.

We are determined to do this and we shall not be deterred.”Buhari lamented the level of official corruption in the nation, adding that it led to many years of hardship for Nigerians.

He, however, promised to do everything possible to curb the menace. While declaring the conference open, the President commended the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa Iqamatis Sunna and the Muslim World League for the event at a time when the nation is grappling with insecurity.

Buhari, who described Boko Haram as a mindless terrorist organisation, said the Federal Government was winning the fight against insurgency.

He said once the war is over, the government would commission a sociological study to determine the origin, the remote and immediate causes of the movement, its sponsors, its international connections if any, to ensure that measures are taken to prevent a resurgence.

BREAKING NEWS-Court Bars Buhari From Deploying Soldiers to Rivers for Saturday’s Rerun Election

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday restrained President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief of Defence Staff, the Brigade Commander of Amphibious Brigade and the Chief of Army Staff, from deploying military operatives for the re-run elections.

In a ruling delivered by Justice George Omereji in a suit filed by the PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah and the PDP, the Court ordered:

“That an order of interim order be made and is hereby made restraining , Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Brigade Commander, 2nd Amphibious Brigade, whether by themselves, their agents, servants, officers and operatives or privies from interfering with the applicants right to freely participate in the government of Nigeria either directly or through free chosen representatives, threatens to arrest, harass, intimidate, torture , incancerate the applicants and their members during the rerun elections for the State and National Assembly on 19th March, 2016”.

The Court based its judgment on the judgment by the Appeal Court in the case between the APC versus and others in 2015 detailing the non involvement of the Army and the Armed Forces in elections.

River State- Gun Men Sent Messages Across To Nigerian Army Ahead of Saturday's Rerun Election

With less than 48 hours to the re run elections in Rivers State, the security of the state has come under test as the Nigerian Army says it has lost two of its men from an ambush by unknown men in Abonemma, Akukutoru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The victims, one officer and one soldier, were among the troops on patrol in Abonemma before a fierce encounter ensued between them and the gunmen.

The Army authorities say they are in pursuit of the criminals and will surely get them.

The Army has also advised all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful activities, while it continues to make necessary sacrifices to ensure sustainable peace, security of lives and property of all.

The Nigeria Police had earlier announced the deployment of 6,000 personnel to Rivers State ahead of the re-run election.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, told newsmen in Abuja that the deployment became necessary because of the already tensed security situation in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is conducting a re-run election in three senatorial districts, 12 federal constituencies and 22 state constituencies on Saturday, March 19, in compliance with the appeal tribunal which nullified the earlier polls.

APC CHANGE Sticks Heavily in Kano As 2 million Youths are to Lose Their Jobs

No fewer than two million youths may lose their jobs due to the closure of some Sachet water producing factories in Kano Alhaji Muktar Tata, the Secretary-General of the state chapter of Association of Sachet Water Producers of Nigeria, made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.

Tata said many producers were compelled to fold up due to the increase in price of polythene used for packaging the commodity.

He said prices of the material which sold for N480,000 per tonne in January had now increased to N1.1 million. “The situation has forced the closure of about 60 per cent of the `pure water’ producing factories in the state. “

About two million youths working in the industry might lose their jobs and the state may face scarcity of drinking water if the situation is not addressed,” he said.

The scribe said the situation had compelled the association to increase the price of `pure water’ from N5 to N10 per sachet, and N100 per bag of 20 sachets as against N60 before.

“The sachet water vendors have agreed to ‎sell a sachet at N10 and N15 for two sachets,” Tata said.

He said the association would ensure that the commodity was produced under good hygienic condition, and that the association had set up committees to ensure compliance.

Ahead of Saturday’s re-run elections in the state, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared Thursday and Friday as work-free days to enable workers fully participate in the polls.

In a state-wide broadcast on Wednesday, Wike said the work-free days would enable workers in the private and public sectors to fully participate in the re-run polls.

The governor also stated that he believes the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would conduct free, fair and credible re-run elections from the assurances he received from INEC.

Wike said : ” I hereby declare Thursday March17th and Friday March 18th 2016 as work free days in Rivers State to enable workers from the public and private sectors fully participate in the re-run elections and exercise their franchise.

Consequently, all public and private offices, including banks must remain closed for the duration of the holidays.”He stated that security agencies have definite instructions to enforce the restrictions on human and vehicular movements on election day.

The governor directed the security agencies to : “arrest any person or group of persons, including government vehicles, that violate this order and or attempt to act in any way to undermine the peaceful conduct of the re-run elections in the State.

“While urging the people of the state to turn out in their numbers to participate in the elections, Wike noted that he had been assured by the armed forces that they would not deviate from their constitutional role of safeguarding law and order before, during and after the elections.

The Story of a Nigerian Beauty Queen Turn Monster

Marian Adejokun, a 24-year-old beauty queen, has been left scarred for life after a horrific reaction to eye drops which left her skin peeling off.

She spent more than 3-weeks in intensive care at the Royal London Hospital where doctors diagnosed her with life-threatening medical condition  called Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

The condition causes the top layer of skin to die and then shed - and is triggered by an allergic reaction to medication.Symptoms include skin rashes, blisters in the mouth, ears and nose and swelling of the eyelids.

If left untreated the condition can result in death - or trigger possible complications such as blindness and lung damage.Miss Adejokun's ordeal began five years ago when she developed an itchy eye.

Her GP sent her to the chemist to get some eye drops which she used before going to bed. But the next morning she was horrified to wake up with lumps all over her body.

As her condition began to deteriorate she was rushed to hospital. As her skin began to shed she was put into a medically induced coma - and doctors warned her devastated mother she may not survive.

Speaking about her condition, Miss Adejokun said:'Unknown to me, I had a rare, deadly allergy to eye drops which caused by skin to peel off from head to toe. When I was in the intensive care unit, crying in pain, all I thought of was coming home.

Miss Adejokun's mother, Remi, said the eye medication left her daughter in such a terrible state she 'looked like Freddy Krueger' from the horror film Nightmare on Elm Street.

'I hate to say that, but there were so many blisters - her skin was just tearing off and her lips were very swollen,' she said. 'I looked at her and I was so scared she was going to burst open. I saw death knocking at my daughter's door, all because of eye drops.'She continued:

'I was crazy, beyond the worried stage and near to losing my mind. 'After a week I thought there was no hope  - but then as she lay on the bed, unable to talk, I said "Marian, you've just made it to university, that's your dream" and she moved her toe.'Realising she could hear me I started to sing our favourite songs to her.

Instead of crying all the time I went to the intensive care unit and danced.'Miss Adejokun lost so must skin she had to be wrapped in a foil sheet and still has to be fed through a hole in her throat.

She said;'Everywhere was swollen. My nose was huge and my eyes were so red you could take a spoon and scrape out the blood.'Even specialist skin experts told Ms Adejokun her daughter was unlikely to survive.

But she defied the odds and pulled through - with doctors hailing her recovery a 'miracle'.

Miss Adejokun has since gone on to complete a degree in early childhood studies at the University of Roehampton.and hopes her story will inspire others to be grateful for what they have.-
